TEHRAN - Iranian sports delegations arrived in Hangzhou, China for the 19th Asian Games on Tuesday.

There will be 40 sports and 61 disciplines taking place at the 54 competition venues in Hangzhou and the five co-host cities from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8.

The Games will bring more than 12,500 athletes from 45 nations across Asia together.

Hangzhou is the third city in China to host the Asian Games. Following the 11th Asian Games in Beijing in 1990 and the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010.

Iran will participate in the competition with 289 athletes (211 male and 78 female) in 30 sports.

Shooter Javad Foroughi and taekwondo athlete Nahid Kiani will carry Iran’s flag in the 2022 Asian Games.
